What is Argan Oil & How to Choose Argan oil

What is argan oil?

Argan oil is a plant oil that came from the nuts of argan tree that can only be found in the south-west part of Morocco. Argan tree can live up to 150 to 200 years in a dessert. Maybe that's why it's one of the rarest plant oil in the world. Other than that, argan oil is popular because of it's awesome beauty benefits. It is rich in vitamin E, flavonoids, polyphenols, carotenoids, ferulic acid and antioxidants. You probably have had heard a lot about this popular beauty 'secret' that everyone is talking about.

So let me briefly tell you about the benefit of argan oil:

- Moisturizer
- Anti-aging (renew cell structure and elasticity)
- Healing of sunburn
- Treating acne
- Reducing stretch marks
- Hair treatment
- Getting rid of dandruff

It sounds great right? We can actually take care of our skin in a natural way. =)

How to choose argan oil:

There are a lot of argan oil out there in the market. I have some tips for you if you are planning to try argan oil. The brand I've come across other than Josie Maran argan oil is Eden Allure ($18 - 1fl.oz.) and Skinception ($59.99 - 1 month supply). These are the argan oil that people are talking about in the internet. Now I'm gonna talk about how to choose argan oil and why I chose argan oil from Josie Maran.

1. Ingredient & the scent

Make sure the ingredient list is short and says 100% Argan Oil. This is one of the reason that I didn't choose Eden Allure argan oil because it said there in the ingredient "100% Pure Refined and Deodorized Argan oil from Morocco."

For your information cosmetic argan oil is produced almost identically to culinary argan oil, except that for cosmetic purpose, argan kernels are not roasted to avoid an excessively nutty scent. So if the argan oil is processed in the right way, it does not have to go through the deodorization process like Eden allure argan oil.

Pure argan oil has an unique smell on it. However I cannot tell what the smell exactly is, but it definitely doesn't smell nothing. Do not buy argan oil that smell really bad because it might contain harmful chemical that we don't want to put on our face.

2. The bottle
According to aromatherapists, argan oil should be stored in a dark color glass bottle. It filter out the suns ultra-violet light. This is because over a period of time, it will dramatically speed up the process of oxidation due to continuous heat up and cool down process. Therefore it is really important to store it in a correct way to get the most use out of the oil. (Note: Both Skinception & Eden allure argan oil are not store in a dark glass bottle)

Have you try Argan Oil?? and which brand do u prefer? I would love to know ur opinion about it =)

Benefit They're Real Mascara Review

I got this with the Sephora free Birthday gift recently. I was so excited when I found out that this mascara is gonna be included in the free gift this year since I've heard a lot of good things about this mascara. After I've tried it I don't think it worth the hype, I was kinda disappointment because I really want to like it after all the excitement. =(

Formula

First of all, when it comes to mascara I always prefer a dry formula because I have really straight eye lashes and wet formula mascara always tend to uncurl my lashes throughout the day. Besides that it doesn't clump as much as the wet formula mascara. This mascara is definitely a wet formula mascara. My lashes could get a little clumpy and I have to brush it with a lash brush every time I apply a coat on my lashes. I'm really lazy to add another extra step in my makeup routine. >.<

TIPS: I've try different ways to apply it. Finally I figure out how to make it works for me. I leave the wand exposed to the air for a couple minutes before I use it. It does make it easier for me to apply it but still I don't like the formula.

Price
This is one of the reason that turn me
down for this product. The full size product is retailed for $23 in Sephora. Consider that a mascara usually last me 3 months, it is too expensive for a mascara.

Brush
The brush is really unique and different. It is like a little spiky ball at the end and it is suppose to enable us to apply the lashes at the corner of my eye. But I found out that it just gather too much of the product and I end up applying too much of the product and uncurl my lashes.

Result

Actually I'm kinda pleased with the result of it (after I comb it with the lash brush or
the tips that I mention). It does give a little volume and length but it doesn't not give the result that I want. It is definitely not for you if you are looking for a natural looking mascara. Like I said before it could get a little clumpy when u apply too many coat. Overall I like to put this on when I'm going out at night but not for everyday.

Bare Lashes

Another thing I don't like about this mascara is it is really hard to take off at the end of the day and I realized my lashes fall off everytime I remove this mascara. I don't think I will purchase the full size of this mascara.

Thank you for reading. I hope you all have a great day !!! =)
